Lynn, Let's be reasonable, good ole Newt has some great ideas but he couldn't get elected mayor of Temple. Speaking of conservative values: Looking at the current leadership makes me wonder if this regime has any values at all, conservative or otherwise. The money that is being spent daily on the war in Iraq could pay the insurance premiums for children for many years. There are some things that I don't agree with Mrs. Clinton on, like the democrats stand on illegal immigration, but the concept of "Socialized Medicine" is a term used by you Republicans to demean the Democrats attempt to provide medical insurance for those kids whose families are above the poverty level and can't get it anywhere else. You want the welfare families, that we support generation after generation, to receive help for their children while denying help to the working families. There is no incentive for the welfare families to get off the dole because they couldn't work for minimum wage and afford to pay for the things they are getting free, such as Medicaid for their children, free housing, and free food. Maybe if they could get insurance for their kids, without being on the welfare rolls, it would give them some incentive to go to work instead of having you and I support them. I doubt it but just maybe they would give up that free section eight house, next door to the one I am paying $1,200 per month to rent, and just maybe they would give up that $600 per month in free groceries and the discount on their utilities. Lets not forget the check they receive for each kid that's been diagnosed with ADHD: The more kids the more money. Now if you can logically explain to me why the working family can't have just one of those many free privileges that the non-working families have then I will join you on the right....far right.

Andy,
You've pretty well described the mess the Democrats have gotten us into since LBJ. I could not have written a better explanation of why I am a conservative.
Thanks,
