Vast Write Wing - December 2008

Postby lwoolley on Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:04 pm

The only proof I have that second hand smoke may smell bad, annoy people or be discomforting to others, but certainly doesn't kill people, is 1 person. My grandmother has lived with 2 and 3 pack a day smokers in poorly ventilated areas for the majority of her life without a single health related issue. She's also 91 years old. I would say the only thing worse than a smoker is an intolerant non-smoker. The same goes for militant gays, racist blacks (If you've never been to Ireland, you can't be Irish-American either) and rednecks who say their rebel flag is about heritage not hate.

Riddle me this Logic Man, I heard a poll about 10 years ago that since 80 % of Japanese men smoke, second hand smoke is putting their wives at increased risk, in the same week, I heard another poll that Japoanese women live the longest in the world.
Recently, I hear Japanese men and women live the longest in the world. Some say that even though they smoke more than any other country, they eat more fish. So-o does that make Americans guilty of smoking to much, or not eating enough fish. Maybe we should smoke fish.

I'm not a smoker.

Does it really matter that you don't understand why someone smokes? Personal freedom is what makes this country great, and smoking tobacco, just like eating double-meat/double-cheese burgers every day, is a personal freedom. Are they both bad for your health? Yes, but that's not the point. The point is personal freedom; start taking that away, and we're just another step closer to government controlling every aspect of our lives.

I listened to your program for a while this AM on my drive to work. As I listened and considered your "shtick" I realized you are doomed. The American public has no interest in logic or reason. They were all aware of everything you said about the fallacies in Obama's appointments and entire thinking process prior to the election and know all of that voted for him anyway. So other than keeping you in a job and maybe making you feel better to rant and rave, ultimately nothing you say makes any differnce because the majoity of Americans NO LONGER CARE.
Sincerely,
Billy Bob Cox

Lynn,
I have a better way than using computers as to which team of the three in the big 12 south plays in the championship game. Pick the school that has the highest student athlete graduation rate. Of course Texas would finish dead last.

In the past I have encouraged access of.. free.. reports from Rasmussen.
Their accuracy on the last election was as enviably accurate as Real Clear
Politics. In the recent California election, the Afra-merican population,
shocked everyone by landsliding for Prop 8 (traditional marriage) by 72%,as well as nearly 2/3 of Latins following suit.
The shockers haven't stopped.Friday the Rasmussen tells us that Afra-Mericans are 84% in favor of reciting the Pledge of allegiance DAILY & 92% of them favor including "under god" in its text.In addition we must not forget that they overwhelmingly support school choice.

THAT'S FOUR ISSUES FOR CONSERVATIVES to use to appeal to this traditionally
Democrat -voting constituency that should enable us to begin rebuilding for future elections. This can only bring to mind the statement of Michael Steele, candidate for chairman of the Republican party, who when asked
by his black Democrat mother how, considering her lifelong membership as a Democrat, he had turned out as such a stalwart Republican .Michael
responded,"That's easy .You raised me well, mom"

So we see a chance to raise a sleeping monster & bring it to
the party of Lincoln & shut down katy Couric's nonsense about lack of
inclusiveness

Lynn, I thought a recession was defined as 2 months back to back with a negative GDP. I have seen the GDP recently around .5 and even .3 but I have not seen the numbers define a recession. Is this a scare tactic being played upon Americans? GODS SPEED….

SOL,
Well, the BCS Anointment Committee did not adhere to the Divine Right Of
Kings doctrine and the Burnt Orange Bullies of Austin got slighted. My, my!
Instead, the Big 12 South will be represented by the Big Red Bullies of
Norman. Your moaning along with the rest of the Teasip moaning is
reminiscent of the tale of the young man who murdered his parents and, at
his trial, he asked the court for leniency because he had recently been
orphaned.

Significantly, the selection criterion suggested by Mike Leach has not
generated any supportive groundswells from Austin or Norman. Inadmissible
is the fact that Texas Tech has the highest football graduation rate in the
Big 12. But a step-child is still a step-child. Right? As Nikita
Khrushchev told John F. Kennedy in 1962, "Mr. President, in the Soviet Union
we are all equal; but, some of us are just more equal than others."

Any Texican resident/voter supporting restoration of firearm "open carry" in the present state of Nuevo Northern Mexico, formerly Texas, can sign a petition for the upcoming legislature and get sample letters to send Perry and elected reps. @ www.opencarry.org. If nothing else, one can watch a simple concept get "flocked up" by the next crop of buffoons in the upcoming legislature, one more time...

You think your Fords are made in America, how many other Ford, GM, and Chrysler plants are spread around the world. The big three created their own demise, and now they need to go out of business. Someone else will pick up the tab for car building.

Oh my GOD! You are now "channeling" the founding fathers in your Loopy Minute today! Amazing! You actually KNOW what they were THINKING 250 years ago! I am truly impressed!

Now, instead of whining and believing that Americans should just save, how about some read ideas?

Oh, sorry. I just remembered. You have none. You just throw slurs and criticize, you don’t come up with solutions.

Par for the course.

Lynn,
The issue is a market problem. We have more carsthan are needed and the price keeps increasing. You are right that we have too many brands, but we are also producing too many for the market need. Instead of putting a new model out each year they should go to a new model every two or three years. We have an oversaturation of cars, that's why sales are falling. The companies are going to have to cut prices and reduce production for the forseeable term.

About desiel - I wouldn't have one because they're noisy and they stink. I want queit and less odor.

Hi Lynn,

I just want to agree w/ you that it would be very sad to see the American Auto Makers go away. They are sort of like the American Flag and apple pie. As you know, I too, drive a GM product and am very happy w/ it. Hopefully things will work out for them and they will be able to continue to build the cars that we know and love. I feel like all of our American traditions are being torn apart and I hate it.

So your solution is Dr. Death for auto union workers:

I am always fascinated by those who tend to script theories, launch attitudinal rockets and stand as self-made judges and juries for folks in other professions not their own, who are in trouble.

Just today in RDN CENTRAL, there is a list of radio folks in various news stories – those who have lost their jobs because of the economy that your wacky wight wingers have flung wrecklessly and carelessly upon America. Some of those guys are wight wingers like yourself.

If your radio program meets the same demise, I am eagerly awaiting your “loopy minute” to explain why you were fired from the stations and syndicator. I am not wishing ill upon you, but am curious what you will do 3 months from that day of demise when your pockets are emptier.

Perhaps Jiffy Lube might hire you as an “essential” and you can finally talk with real people, not just communicate with political punkits and those who agree with you and their every word.

LS

Dear LS,

Actually, I believe auto workers are essential personnel and I wish them well. But unions have negotiated very good deals. So good that the automakers cannot keep up with the benefits.

Regarding the economy that we currently have -- it is more of a Left Wing than a Right Wing creation. Jimmy Carter gave us the CRA and Clinton along with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd put teeth in it. That led to the mess we're in now.

Look at states that have had democratic leadership for years -- like California -- now seeking a bailout. Arnold is more of a Democrat than a Republican. So is George W. Bush when it comes to spending. But look at Texas -- under Republican governance, it has an $11 billion surplus. That will likely be spent on Hurricane Ike, but still, Texas is not asking for a bailout.
