Hey USL,
While Alexis de Tocqueville wrote many brilliant things; you have focused on a most banal and unexceptional attribution to him to freqently end your posts. Think about it U (can I call you "U"?), ALL societies contain the seeds of their own destruction, not just Democracies. The Roman Empire, the Mongol Empire, the Aztecs, the Soviet Union, Porfirio Diaz, the Crusades, the French Monarchy, the confederacy, etc, etc, etc; all, ALL contained the "seeds of its own destruction" and the the list goes on and on. Why don't you wisely tell people that it gets cold in Minnesota and be just as profoundly unprofound.
Have you actually read de Tocqueville or do you just like to refer to him? After all he was one of those "testicularly challenged" Frenchmen you are wont to vilify. It's OK, I'm sure you believe, like me, that consistency is just a crutch for those who lack imagination. Right?
Sincerely,
Thane
