Bobby Pierce <BPierce1937@yahoo.com>

Your recent column on gambling in Texas really missed the mark. Can't believe you had to go back to the 1990s and the situation in Detroit for rebuttal.

The fact is that the people in Texas are ready for casino gambling. Las Vegas loves us. Shreveport, Durant and Winstar can't survive without us. Even our present governor is beginning to waiver somewhat because he "thinks" the people might actually pass it.

There are many kinds of addictions i.e., shopaholics, credit card abusers, alcoholism, etc. There will always be people who are addicted to something including gambling. Do you think they can't get to Oklahoma or Louisiana.

What a joke!

Bobby,

There are so many problems with casino gambling, that it would have been impossible to print them all in a 700-word column. I used Detroit because I was in the city when it had its vote on casinos. They were going to solve all of Detroit's problems. Thats turned out to be (to use your word) a joke.

Lynn,

How stupid can you be and still keep your job? I worked in the Dallas school system for 54 years as
teacher, counselor, ticket taker and many other things trying to send my children to public school and
college. Most off that time I had at least two part time jobs to help me survive doing a job that I loved, working
with kids and rational parents. You were probably a large part off your children's problems in the Round Rock
school District and your fathers experience as a custodian in a school didn't help you. In those 54 years I
was never given that big raise in pay that you are saying teachers will get if the bill for gambling is passed.
Higher pay would help attract more qualified people into the profession. It take a special type of person to
make a good teacher. Three summers in the 50's I worked for Ford on the body lines and made two and
one half times more money than I made teaching, but money in itself was not what I wanted or needed. I
don't think you would ever make a good teacher and I don't think your Republicant Gov.would approve it.

By the way don't you think it's time you moved to Alaska so you can kiss Palin's butt and help her
watch Russia?

Subject: BOYCOTT AUSTIN, TEXAS NOW!

BOYCOTT AUSTIN, TEXAS NOW!

Fellow Texans/Americans,

I call upon you, to take a look at what has happened, right here, in the great state of Texas. The voice of the few, in Austin, Texas, have taken matters into their own hands, by slandering the Arizona Legislation, against Illegal Immigration and voting unanimously of a boycott of Arizona. The exact words of federal law are written in the Arizona Legislation! How dare they ignore the voices and wishes of Texans!

Austin Mayor Pro Tem, Mike Martinez, states,

"What we're trying to do is send a strong message that we absolutely disagree with the practices that the new legislation sets up in Arizona and that we want to send a strong message that we won't do business with folks that discriminate," said Martinez.

Austin Mayor Pro Tem Martinez also states, "There's a lot of opportunities and training elsewhere. We don't need to send them to Arizona..."

Now that the the resolution has been approved, Austin City Manager Marc Ott is directed to investigate what current and future business the city has with the State of Arizona and will then develop a plan to cease those relationships.
According to a memo from the city controller, Austin has no contracts or investments with Arizona, but in the past year, the city has spent $42,898 on travel to Arizona. Three separate trips were planned for May 2010, which the city says were set up before the law passed.

Please click here, for the entire article; http://www.kvue.com/news/local/Austin-C ... 65849.html

As your fellow Texan and American, I strongly urge you to return the favor to the Austin City Council, Mayor Pro Tem and Mayor! Use their own words and actions against them! As Texans, "We want to send a strong message that we won't do business with folks that discriminate!" You Mayor Pro Tem Martinez, Mayor Leffingwell and Austin City Council Members, are the ones in violation of discrimination! You discriminate against the great people of Arizona and against federal law being enforced by the great state of Arizona, through their own state law! Prepare to have the favor of a boycott returned against Austin, from the people of the great state of Texas and other states as well!

Fellow Texans/Americans, make your travel plans, dinner plans and tourist destination elsewhere, somewhere outside the city. There's alot of other accomodations elsewhere! (like stated by Austin Mayor Pro Tem Martinez)

If you own your own business and are currently doing business with Austin, Texas or have plans of such, please follow the words and actions of Austin Mayor Pro Tem Martinez, Mayor Leffingwell and Austin City Council, by looking elsewhere! Let them know and feel the detriment of a boycott, until they retract their outrageous and discriminative resolution in reference to boycotting Arizona!

Please click on the following link, to see who Arizona based companies are, that have branches here in Texas and please, patron the heck out of them. Please, send business to Arizona!

http://standwitharizona.org/

Please, contact Mayor Leffingfell and the Austin City Council, to let them know your direct intentions of boycotting Austin for their outrageous and slanderish actions and resolution against Arizona! What you do here, you do for your fellow Americans! Stand strong against the establishment in Austin and let them know, without any doubt, of who is actually in power and control of Austin, our great State of Texas and our country! It is, "WE THE PEOPLE!"

Mayor Lee Leffingwell - (512) 974-2250

Mayor Pro Tem Mike Martinez - (512) 974-2264

Council Member Bill Spelman - (512) 974-2256

Debra <bam0656@yahoo.com>

I have heard that part of Texas's stimulus monies is going to 3 counties (Milam, Robertson and Lee ) approximately 250 black families will rec. 120 acres with a new home and 2 new vehicles. I heard this through a realtor. If the families live on the property for 6 years they will own it. It is happening because of their ancestors were slaves. Is there anyway you can verify this? It sounds bazar but knowing our gov. these days anything is possible.

SOL,
George Santayana said, "Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to
repeat it." Indeed, the past is prologue. In the opinion section of today's
WSJ is a column by Mark Helprin titled "Farewell to America's China
Station." You and Gentle Ben should internalize (you know, read, learn,
mark, and inwardly digest) this one.

Lynn,

Yesterday I saw a documentary called "Islam: What the West Needs to Know", and the thesis of the documentary was that Islam is, by its very nature, a non-peaceful religion. The documentary pointed out numerous Quranic verses which were very clear that Muslims, if they are to enter the Kingdom of Allah upon death, were to kill infidels or force them to accept second-class status in an Islamic theocracy. Your friend Walid Shoebat was a guest in the documentary, and he had some very interesting points about the true nature of Islam, as given by the Quran and the lore of the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
Muslims are encouraged to emulate Muhammad, who was, in his later life, a warlord and despot according to the documentary. In this view, there is no "radical Islam", as true Islam is exactly as the "radicals" believe it to be. They are Quranic literalists, and any Muslim living in harmony with infidels is not a true Muslim, according to the Quran.

It was a very interesting documentary, and I would encourage you to watch it, if you ever get a chance.

Your Loyal Listener,
Patrick in Odessa

Dear Mr. Woolley: A former retail merchant I know in south Texas told me once that business dropped off significantly at his western shop when the lotto came to Texas-folks were buying lotto tickets instead of clothing. If his thinking was correct it seems that gambling in our state will only lead to more folks using entitlement programs to get by and thereby putting us further in debt, to more desperation by people who have gambled away their money, and to an overall lower standard of living for the citizens of Texas.

Yours truly, Blane Monks

Lynn,

In your article that was in the paper last Thursday . You said that if a bill was approved to help balance our
state budget by passing a bill to allow gambling in Texas that the money might be used to give teachers a a
salary increase etc. I DID GET YOUR POINT, but evidently you are not sharp enough to get other peoples
people's point. Now I will try to make another point. Pay close attention and focus . A good teacher should
be paid more than broadcasters and writers that try to copy Russ the addict Limbaugh and want to kiss
Palin the Republicant's butt. Don't you agree?

Everybody ...who gets pulled over shows proof of citizenship!!That would get beyond the profiling issue and it would flush out the lies of the leftist movement.I guarantee you they would still balk at the inconvenience, because those're not patriots who "protest the inconvenience"
They want to be "entitled' 1st & always ,for the real ..issue is patriotism.Do you put any value on your citizenship to the point you're willing to undergo minor inconvenience?
I guarantee it would last,at best ,a few years, just as our 55 MPH speed limit lasted a few years.then we'd have our economy back from the leech mentality that drains it now.Good idea!

THIS IS IT. If you're tired of losing case after case ....to the vast victim industry.....,to the point where we're mesmerized by the ACLU,then this is the time to get involved and start pushing back ,because i believe our Republic is on the line ....right here If you can't even defend your territory when necessary

Hey Lynn, that caller of yours Raphael has a point about the Bad Cops.

I fully support the Arizona law, I have read it myself. But there are bad cops out there, period. I don't think we should write laws assuming some cops are going to abuse it, but we do need to be more selective in our police force.

Thanks Lynn, I'll be waiting for that article about Alex Jones!

Everyone is talking about the fact that none of the critical administration officials have read the AZ immigration law; however, I think the real question is whether they have read the US law that it is based upon and that they have sworn to uphold. Since when do we get to pick and choose which laws we want to enforce?

I don't think we should enforce the law against assaulting public officials if they don't enforce the laws they are sworn to uphold...fair trade?

I missed the show entirely this morning and parts the last few days at work....I had been wondering what it was going to take for Perry to RECONSIDER his "stand" on Illegals... I was extremely dissapointed in him... Anyway, d'ya think the story on his rental expenses even made him think twice about how hard we're gonna have to hold our noses to vote for him? Maybe I've missed but was there any response from him or his campaign?
Thanks and God Bless you, Lynn for allways being on the RIGHT side of Texans and Americans.
Even if I miss your show I'm loving your website and can review the highlights, links, etc!
With sincere gratitude,
