Mr. Woolley,



I don't like any of the selective individuals running for President this year, especially

Barack Obama. I suspect that Mr. Obama will be elected as our next President

unless something drastically happens.



I say this because the majority of the voting age people today from 18 to 40 have

been brainwashed in the universities, colleges and even many of the high schools

into believing that socialism and communism is a perfect form of government and

living enviroment. On top of the colective belief in socialism and communism, the

teaching, practice and impemtation of Multiculturism in our society will play a huge

role in electing Obama to the office of President.



Then there are some that would rather have obama from 4 years or more to build

a new conservative base than to elect a left wing republican to the office. Either

way the next 4 to 8 years will possibly be the worst years in the modern history

of our nation. I'll vote for Mr. McCain because he is the only choice we have. Not

because I agree with his ideas and potential policy making but to keep Obama

out.

A couple of months ago, while living in Colorado, I chanced to hear radio talk show host on KOA 850 named "Gunny Bob" refer to and interview Sen. Obama gave in 1995 in which he declared that "he was a "collectivist" and that Americans should give up the idea of individual success and liberty and make themselves subservient to the will and success of the group." I don't know the accuracy of this and don't have the ability to research this. If it is true it is counter to what is American and what has made America great.

Please have your staff research this. If it is true, the American public certainly needs to know the philosophy by which he would govern if elected president.

Back in the '60s I couldn't figure out why half the trucks on the highway carrying petro were flammable and the other half were inflammable.
As far as pre-conditions, conditions, or post-conditions go, here in West Texas the only condition we need is AIR-condition. I thought pre-condition was when you called ahead to your motel and told them to turn the Air condition on before you arrive.

why do the oil companies comply w/ the congress? the congress has no constitutional right to question company policy. if i were an excutive w/ big oil, i would hold my own press conference & tear these know-nothings heads off!
also, big oil needs to demand a windfall profits give back on the taxes that congress charges & does nothing to earn!
yeah, i mad as hell w/ the sob's that run our country! they have made policies that have bankruptred us! it is time to for another american revolt.

Once again our congress/leaders of this great nation have shown how much
brains they actually have. Let us take OPEC to court for not selling us enough oil
to reduce the cost of gasoline. It shows how out of touch these people are or
maybe just how stupid they really are.

What kind of response should Opec have? Reduce oil production, reduce the
amount of oil sold to the United States and tell the idiots in Washington DC to
stick theirs heads futher up their A----. Maybe they have to much lite coming
in.

Two comments about the FLDS girls who are pregnant.

First of all, let's take any other group of underage girls about the same size as the FLDS girls. Let's take a group out of, say, the Killeen ISD female band kids.

In looking at that group, do you think the percentage of sexually active girls is any higher or lower in the KISD "control" group than the FLDS girls? Let's not put too fine a point on this...it's the sexual act with a minor that is illegal, not the actual condition of being pregnant. The pregnancy probably has more to do with the availability of birth control within the two groups.

Assuming this is true (and I personally think the band kids are probably more sexually active), should the state be allowed to go in and take custody of the kids active in the KISD band program?

Second, you have stated these pregnancies are with much older men. What is your proof for this? To my knowledge, the DNA results are not in yet, or at least have not been made public.

I personally think the state was way wrong in this. Think that way more every day.

Lynn, There is a couple of points that you keep making that those out here do not agree:

1. CULT: you keep say that the Mormon ranch is a cult; I would argue that it is not a cult.

As an example, Wahabbism is not a cult of Islam but rather the fundamental logical exercise of Islam. I would say, likewise, the fundamental ranch is a fundamental exercise of Mormonism.

This is NOT the same as a cult such as David Koresh where he was outside of the fundamental doctrines of Christianity while claiming to be Christian (Claiming to be Christ himself).


2. Violation of Laws:

There is a lot of people, me included, that think it is absurd that it can be considered “RAPE” for consensual sex a person above age 18 to have sex with someone below age 18. You keep saying “child” but this child could come in the army at age 17 and fight for his/her country. The fact that the law calls it “statutory rape” even if it is consensual is ridiculous and everyone knows it. If these girls were in fact “RAPED” then whoever did the non-consensual sex act should be punished severely. It wasn’t too long ago that 14 yr olds could marry with consent of parents.

3. In a free society, those that are different and weird have a right to be weird.

I visit the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs about once every month when I travel up to Omaha-Council Bluffs. I'm not addicted. Usually take in $5 and win a few bucks -- or if I lose, leave with a $5 only loss.

You should trust people more. I know that your right-wing wacky-world mind leads you to believe that you can legislate morality and habits. But, you should trust more in the American people. After all, isn't it a "hands-off" by the government approach that you cons base your beliefs on?

Still trying to run people's lives, huh? Trying to tell people what they can and can't do. THAT might be an addiction in itself.

Lynn, that was an excellent article on whats wrong with the GOP. What do you think they need as an agenda to turn things around? To me, their Waterloo was the 95 budget impasse when they completely abandoned the idea of even gradually reducing the federal Colossus. As a moral issue, I would like to see them fight as hard for school choice as the Dems do for national healthcare. Young voters are like the farm team for a political party. Appears that the Left has let another idiot open its mouth. Maxine Waters from
the 35th district in Mexifornia, I mean California showed her ignorance while she tried
to interogate the Oil Companies. Her foot must be at least a size 12. But I think this
is truly the mindset of the Democrate's in congress today. If they really thought they
could get away with it, They, the Democratic Socialist Party, better know as the
Democrate Party, would nationalize not only the oil companies but the local family
grocery. CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL. Let the government run the oil fields,
That's a big laugh.

David Bradley Responds: "There was nothing hasty about the process."

Gator invited Beaumont's David Bradley, a member of the Texas Board of Education, to reflect on Friday's controversial decision about the state's new English curriculum -- a plan that literally arrived in board member's hands about an hour before their final vote. Bradley was one of 9 board members who voted for the new, mostly unseen plan. Here is his response:

There was nothing hasty about the process the SBOE used to develop and adopt new English curriculum standards. This has been a three-year effort. What made it difficult was the last-minute political hijacking of the board's work effort by educrats who have failed to educate our kids for decades.

Those who complained the loudest were the curriculum specialists, coordinators, consultants, and product vendors who are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide consulting and training services to Texas' 1,100-plus school districts at taxpayer expense. We should have standards that teachers and parents can understand without having to hire someone to translate them.

What scared them so much? A healthy dose of phonics. We also wanted grammar taught specifically rather than have students learn through osmosis while reading. We want to start grading for spelling and punctuation. These are areas missing from the classroom.

I heard from many local classroom teachers and local school board members who are frustrated because of the mush they are told to teach by the State. They tell of how we are losing another generation of kids to an educational philosophy that does not demand accuracy or proficiency. Those who testified in support of our efforts were real classroom teachers; many others were unable to testify because they were working at school during this process.
