Who’da thunk it?
For the first time, the Fast & Furious scandal made the front page
of all three daily newspapers that I take.
It was the banner headline in two—and below the fold in the
other. The Dallas Morning News’ Thursday editions also carried my column about the
scandal. On Wednesday, as news was
breaking of the House panel’s contempt vote – and Obama’s assertion of
executive privilege – MSNBC was forced to break away from the Jerry Sandusky trial
to cover it. The night before, the
all-Obama network had mentioned Fast & Furious for the first time that I’d
ever seen – with HARDBALL’s Chris Matthews proclaiming it was all about getting
a black president and his black attorney general. The Big Three network newscasts all carried the story too;
on CBS, the network that helped break the story, it was second in the line
up. How nice to see news
organizations covering the news.
