The Farm Bill just passed in the Senate 64 to 35. Here’s
what you need to know.
Food Stamps
to 46 million people was largely untouched. This program has doubled in size since 2008. Senator Jeff Sessions proposed a type
of means testing, but he got nowhere.
That means families with no incomes remain eligible even if they have
thousands socked way or live in million dollar homes. Sessions also tried to end the practice of paying states
about five hundred million dollars in bonuses for signing up more people for
Food Stamps. The government will
continue to run expensive radio and TV commercials urging more people to sign
up for SNAP – a nicer sounding name for Food Stamp welfare. For the next five years, your
government will spend five trillion of your dollars to grow this government
program. Senate Majority Leader
Mitch McConnell called it “one of the finest moments in the Senate.”
