The White House has been forced to clarify another of the
President’s statements. This time,
Obama had bragged about his auto industry bailout – and that he wanted to do
that for every manufacturing industry.
POLITICO, which had reported on this, issued a clarification that the
President was only expressing his support for manufacturing success. Well, even if Mister Obama isn’t up for
more bailouts, he was clearly saying that the auto bailout is a model he
likes. If other industries come
roaring back like Chrysler and GM, they’ll have to void some contracts, close
franchises down, and hand over part ownership to unions. Obama made the remarks while taking
digs at Mitt Romney for opposing the bailout. He also pushed for renewal of a wind-energy tax credit that
Romney opposes. So even if the
President wasn’t angling for more bailouts, it’s clear he believes business
needs more government.
