If you – or the President --- were expecting good news from
the Federal Reserve, you’re living in a dream world.
The FED says the economy is bleak and may get worse. But Chairman Ben Bernanke says
the FED won’t act right now – but wishes Congress would do something. What could Congress do? We seem to be living in a post
mortgage-crisis world in which companies have learned to do more with less, and
are not inclined to ever change that.
Companies are NOT looking to hire – they’re looking for so-called
“economies of scale.” That means
one employee doing the work that three or four used to do. In addition, technology and automation
– such as the President’s much-discussed ATM machines – ARE taking the place of
flesh-and-blood workers in many industries. The solution is MANY smaller and competitive companies
rather than a few large companies in all industries.
